And so does the kit I bought from NOS.
What the engine will take and what the rest of the drivetrain can stand up to are two completly different things. If you want the drive train to last, 75 is probably a good place to limit it to.
The torque increase for nitrous comes on instantly and if you are into pulling hole shots and power shifting a manual tranny, you could do some expensive damage quickly. Slush boxes will probably not be as abusive on the rearend, but if the tranny goes, it's big $.
My kit was for my old 300ZX, a 3.0 liter engine. I had it set for 60 HP boost. Never had one engine problem, but had to replace a bearing in the tranny and the rear suspension mounts, over a 5 year period.
This wasn't too bad, as I did the work myself.
The gear backlash in the rear end was getting to be a problem when I sold the car, but it did have 180K miles on it.
Usually when you get above 75HP you should have forged pistons and crank.
Anybody know if the 540 pistons are forged?
Another inportant thing to consider is the engine will rev up so fast when the nitrous comes on, it is easy for the engine to over rev and the RPM limiter to shut it down. There has to be some kind of interlock to shut the nitrous off, otherwise when the RPM drops and the engine comes back to life, the cylinders will be full of nitrous, BOOM.
Don't forget about cylinder pressure and those head gaskets. More HP equals higher cylinder pressure.
Looking forward to more replys, before I put in my 540/6

and have posted quite a few line of text here about it, along with lots of other guys. Some have never used it, so don't pay much attention to the ones that have said "I've heard". The stuff is very safe as long as you don't get carried away.
With a 528 auto, 25-30 HP would be real safe. You could buy a kit for about $600 and if you don't know how to install it, that would probably cost you another $400.
I did my own and have a 540/6 that is set for a 40 HP boost right now.
With bad tires and 20 feet of rubber from both tires today I did a 0-60 in 5.2 sec and the 1/4 in 13.6 at 104.6 MPH, the start wasn't that great, I'm sure that I can knock another .2 seconds off.
I'll post the pics as soon as I can find them.

size all you have to do is change the flare jets ($10) in the injector and get what ever HP you want. Just remember that you will empty the bottle quicker. And don't get carried away, HP can get additing. Around here a refill for the bottle is $45

Nitrous doesn't like software upgrades that advance the timing.
If you are only doing 20-30 HP it may be OK.
If you get some pre ignition (pinging)you have the timing too far advanced, try higher octane fuel of go back to the original software.
